This high-proof spirit is one of the more affordable spirits and is a staple in every student’s wardrobe, especially when they are at university. As a rule, it is not drunk because it is particularly tasty, but because it is particularly cheap. However, there are also varieties that are wrong to make this assumption: Polish Grasovka, for example, or its Hamburg cousin from Bazic.The brewers at ÜberQuell Brauwerkstätten have set up a collaboration with the latter. The distillery from the Hanseatic city produces fine spirits in small batches and enhances the vodka using organic grains and a professional approach. The spirit is made from Naturland-certified wheat, rye, spelt, emmer and barley and matures for at least 12 months in oak barrels. The barrels, which are of North American origin, previously contained various red wines, which lent the wood part of its aroma.ÜberQuell’s Rambazica is a pale bock beer that is filled into precisely these barrels after the brewing process and stored for 18 months. During this maturation process, an incredible 4.5 kilograms of dried blueberries and liquid sugar candy are added to the fine brew. The result of this process is a complex beer with a balanced sweetness, notes of wild berries and a soul-satisfying 12.5% alcohol content.
