With or without accompaniment, their dark beer is an absolute delight.This classic presents itself in a shimmering rust-red chestnut brown in the glass and is crowned with a generous amount of ivory-colored foam. The 5.1% beer is almost clear thanks to filtration and smells wonderfully of oven-fresh bread crust, sun-ripened grain, roasted malt and brown sugar when poured. A hint of juicy apple and spicy licorice round off the first olfactory impression and lead to a delightful finish. The Vierzehnheiligener Nothelfer Trunk tastes finely roasted, strongly malty, wonderfully nutty and slightly chocolaty. The bitterness of a good espresso rounds off the taste experience.
